Pelaez, Gardner and Anderson Presented Advancing Competencies in Experimentation - Biology (ACE-Bio) at SABER

08-28-2018

Work supported by the National Science Foundation under grant #1346567 to Nancy Pelaez, Stephanie Gardner, and Trevor Anderson at Purdue for the Advancing Competencies in Experimentation - Biology (ACE-Bio) Network was highlighted at the Society for Advancement in Biology Education Research (SABER) annual meeting.  Fifteen ACE-Bio Network participants presented work at SABER on July 27-29, 2018. The relevant events included a pre-meeting workshop, four talks, two round-table discussions, and nine posters. As a result, the ACE-Bio Network has welcomed SABER 2018 participants who are interested in collaborative research coordination across the education and biology research disciplines to advance students' competence with experimentation. In particular, new ACE-Bio Network members include the pre-meeting workshop participants who are "Developing and Testing Assessments for Measuring Experimentation Competence in Biology," facilitated by Stephanie Gardner (Purdue University), Kristy Wilson (Marian University), Dina Newman (Rochester Institute of Technology), and Michelle Harris (University of Wisconsin Madison).
