Pelaez wrote the Cover Article for the September 2016 issue of The Physiologist, the newsletter of The American Physiological Society

09-12-2016

As the 2016 Guyton Physiology Educator of the Year, Dr. Nancy Pelaez wrote an article that appears on the cover of the September 2016 issue of The Physiologist, the newsletter of The American Physiological Society. This article highlights the role Pelaez played as a contributing author to the Vision and Change report, which was based on compiled examples from scientists who reached consensus about the need for students to learn about the research methods and competencies that are indispensable to the advancement of the life sciences. A capstone physiology laboratory course Pelaez teaches, BIOL44215 Multidisciplinary Design of Systems & Devices for Physiology Measurement, was also highlighted to show how Purdue students are practicing both engineering design and hypothesis-driven experimental science as tools to solve complex realworld physiology problems.
