11-04-2015

Assistant Professor Mark Christie.

Assistant Professor Mark Christie and Professor Maria Sepulveda have been awarded a three-year grant from the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission entitled, "Assessing the resistance of sea lampreys (Petromyzon marinus) to TFM." Sea Lamprey are invasive in the Great Lakes and have been treated with the lampricide 3-trifluoromethyl-4-nitrophenol (TFM) for 57 years. This project couples whole transcriptome shotgun sequencing (RNA-Seq) with experimental toxicological assays to determine whether invasive sea lamprey are evolving resistance to the lampricide.
