Three Biological Sciences graduate students, Anwesha Sanyal, Vanessa Hale and Devika Sirohi have been awarded travel grants from the Yeunkyung Woo Achieve Excellence Travel Scholarship Fund. These awards support the travel of graduate students to present their work at scientific meetings.

The Yeunkyung Woo Achieve Excellence Travel Scholarship Fund was created in 2002 by the Biological Sciences Department in memory of Yeunkyung Woo, a talented, energetic and well-loved PhD student. Yeunkyung's expressed desire was to get the opportunity to present her work at major scientific meetings, and this fund provides travel awards to help our current graduate students do just that. Twice per year the Department issues a call for applications from graduate students who plan to travel to major meetings to present their results, and winners are chosen competitively, as funds allow. Since 2005, this fund has supported travel to scientific meetings for 41 graduate students from 29 different laboratories in the department
