Liyun Zhang, a postdoctoral researcher in biological sciences, has been selected as the International Retinal Research Foundation's Charles D. Kelman, MD Scholar for her work in studying the gene networks that control retinal degeneration. As part of the award, Zhang received a one-year $35,000 grant for her project "Disease-causing gene network in the retina and RPE of zebrafish retinal degeneration mutants." Zhang works in the laboratory of Yuk Fai Leung, an assistant professor of biological sciences.
