Principal Investigator
Claudio Aguilar
R. Claudio Aguilar obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Buenos Aires in Immunochemistry and Molecular Endocrinology. In 1996, he moved to Bethesda, MD to pursue a Post-Doctoral position in Cell Biology with focus on vesicle trafficking at the National Institutes Health (NIH) under the supervision of Dr. Juan Bonifacino. Most of his work at NIH was centered on the role of clathrin-associated adaptor protein complexes in protein sorting. From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Aguilar served as Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Biology, The Johns Hopkins University, in the laboratory of Dr. Beverly Wendland. During this period he studied different aspects of epsin function in Saccharomyces cerevisiae using biochemical, cell biological and genetic approaches. In 2005, Dr. Aguilar accepted a position as Assistant Professor, and currently serves as Associate Professor and Assistant Head in the Department of Biological Sciences, Purdue University.
Lab manager

Jennifer Lee
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. My parents, who are South Korean immigrants, explain that their move to the US was primarily to offer me and my sister a better education and, thus, a better life. Currently, as a graduate student in the Aguilar Lab, I hope I am making them proud. While my more apparent interests lie in the study of cellular and molecular biology, I am also extremely passionate about good food, good sleep, and good company.
Sneha Subramanian
Hi! My name is Sneha Subramanian, a US citizen of Indian origin. I received my undergraduate degree with a major in Zoology and minor in Chemistry in 2018 from Hindu College, University of Delhi, India. As an undergraduate, I worked on projects focusing on Molecular Genetics of Neurodegenerative disorder of the eye and the role of miRNAs in Neurodegeneration and Aging. I joined Purdue’s Biological Sciences department as a PhD student in August 2018 and the Aguilar Lab in 2019 to start my quest in understanding and expanding human scientific knowledge.
In my free time, you will see me playing badminton and watching stand-up comedy!Former graduate students
